KEVIN LEWIS

Kevin began playing the drums at the age of five when his father brought home a beat up old Ludwig drum kit for him to start practicing on. Kevin was self-taught until he was able to join the school band in fourth grade. He excelled in the Jazz and Marching Band in High School at which point he was the section leader. Kevin loves to share his talent with others through his performances. He plays Recording Custom Series Yamaha Drums and Latin Percussion.

Kevin’s musical journey has offered him the privilege of performing live with the artists such as: Tom Brown, Greg Chambers, Nick Colionne, Joel Del Rosario, Lebron Dennis, Tony Exum Jr., Jeannette Harris, Howard Hewitt, Evelyn "Champagne" King, Dee Lucas, Eric Marienthal, Kenji Matsui, Chieli Minucci, Otoe Mori, Jeff Ryan, Paul Taylor, Brian Vargas, and Julian Vaughn.

Kevin has had the amazing opportunities to share his talent with audiences in the following venues: Mable House Amphitheatre (Atlanta, GA), Blue Note (Napa, CA), Yoshi’s (Oakland, CA), Kuumbwa Jazz (Santa Cruz, CA), Impulse Loung (Walnut Creek, CA) and many other SF bay area venues. Kevin performed live on the television morning show Fresno Great Day (KMPH Fox 26) and Good Day Sacramento (KMAX CBS Local).

Kevin was a guest artist on two albums by Greg Chambers ('After Hours' 2013 and 'Can’t Help Myself' 2014) where he had the opportunity to share his talent as a percussionist and a vocalist on both albums. In 2018, Kevin was officially inducted into the Impulsive Funk Brothers by the Walnut Creek Impulse Lounge.

In 2018, Kevin teamed up with The Smooth Jazz Alley after meeting Marco Montoya through a mutual colleague, guitarist Joel Del Rosario.  After showing interest in some of the new tracks on the upcoming album "Let's Ride" and sharing some ideas and insight, Kevin was officially asked to join The Smooth Jazz Alley and has been a vital role in production as an executive producer.
